What norms have been established to form a collaborative environment?
Leaders will clarify the time limit and the objective of each PLC meeting.
All members will stay on topic.
We will focus on identifying problems and coming up with solutions to them.
The PLC retains the flexibility to re-organize itself based upon the task at hand(the primary PLC is the entire Science Dept)
When feasible, we will confine PLC activities to the Wednesday collaboration period(50 min)

SMART GOALs
What will the goal of this cycle of inquiry be?
We will identify ELL students on our rosters and begin to collect and analyze their data(i.e. STAR results vs classroom performance/grades) as a FIRST STEP in formulating an intervention plan. Current Reality:
1. W e are meeting the needs of many students.
2. Earth Science is a critical need and should be a main focus of improvement efforts.
3. 10th grader performance--especially ELL and SPED-- on the Life Science/Biology Test needs improvement.
4. There is a downward trend in Biology and Chemistry-- mostly attributable to the increasing number and diversity of students we are enrolling in these two courses. Our rates of enrollment is CP science courses is very high compared to similar schools.
5. Not all students are enrolled in science courses and this issue needs to be investigated and addressed.
6. We are losing AYP points because our Oceanography students are getting the 200 minimum score since their is no End of Year test available for them.
